Position: Junior Associate Litigation Attorney 

Experience: 0 to 3 years 

Pay: $105K-$120K Depending on experience 

Company Overview:   The Law Offices of Daniel A. Hunt is a fun and fast-growing law firm specializing in Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Probate, and Litigation. We are in search of a junior associate litigation attorney to join our litigation team at our Sacramento location. They must be organized, emotionally intelligent, work well independently and as a team, and work well under pressure. 

Position:  

This position is an entry-level associate attorney position. The candidate will be part of a litigation team that handles contested probate matters, contested conservatorships, trust litigation, financial elder abuse, real estate litigation, and landlord-tenant disputes. The position involves significant discovery, law and motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, appearing at hearings, and the opportunity to second chair both bench and jury trials. The ideal candidate is a licensed attorney looking to develop their skills as a litigator and has a desire to grow as an attorney. The candidate will work directly under a senior litigation attorney and will be part of a fast-paced team.  As such, this is a collaborative position. Adhering to the firm’s values (kind, accountable, hungry, and smart) is imperative.   

The candidate must have strong legal research and writing skills, strong oral advocacy skills, and be extremely comfortable working with various technology platforms and programs such as Microsoft Office and Outlook. Familiarity with Clio Manage and other knowledge-based software is a plus. As this is an entry-level position, no experience is required. Familiarity with trust and estate litigation and general California Civil Procedure is a plus, but not required. The individual we are seeking is someone who will commit to, and invest in, the success of the firm. Applicants must be an active member of the California State Bar.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Perform legal research  
  • Draft motions and ex parte applications 
  • Draft written discovery 
  • Appear in person and remotely for client hearings, meetings, and/or other events as needed throughout California 
  • Attend mediation 
  • Prepare cases for trial 
  • Effectively navigate the judicial process using proper procedures 
  • Bill for all time to meet (or exceed) the billable hour requirement procedure
